Layout controls without raw encoder access
Columns may be automatic or 2, 4, 6, or 8. Minimum rows may be automatic or 6, 12, or 24. Error correction may be automatic or levels 2–5. No arbitrary PDF417 parameters are accepted.
- Automatic layout is the safest default
- Fixed columns control width
- Minimum rows can increase symbol height
- Higher correction consumes more capacity
Capacity and print quality
This pilot limits input to 400 printable ASCII characters and line breaks. When both rows and columns are selected, a conservative capacity check runs before the encoder loads.
- Preserve the quiet zone
- Avoid non-uniform stretching
- Test raster output at the actual scan distance
PDF417 barcode generator FAQ
What does error correction do?
It adds recovery codewords so some damage can be tolerated. Higher levels create a larger symbol and reduce room for data.
Are selected rows exact?
They are a minimum. The encoder may require more rows to hold the data and correction codewords.
Why was my fixed layout rejected?
The selected row, column, and correction combination did not meet the generator's conservative capacity estimate.
Can PDF417 store binary files here?
No. This browser pilot accepts printable ASCII text and line breaks, not arbitrary binary input.
