A UPC-A number contains eleven data digits and one weighted check digit. Entering 03600029145 produces 036000291452; entering all twelve digits validates the supplied final digit before generation.

Registration still matters
A correct checksum does not assign or register a UPC. Retail product identifiers should come from the appropriate GS1 company prefix and item-reference process.

UPC-A barcode generator FAQ
Is UPC-A the same as EAN-13?
They use related encoding rules, but UPC-A carries twelve digits. Many scanners report a UPC-A as an EAN-13 value with a leading zero, so confirm what your downstream software expects.
Can this tool allocate a UPC?
No. It renders and validates a number you supply; it does not assign ownership or register a product.
Why was a final digit added?
When you provide eleven digits, the tool calculates the mandatory Modulo 10 check digit and appends it.
Should spaces be included?
No. Enter exactly eleven or twelve digits without spaces or punctuation.
